Types of Smoke
11/21/2022 (Permalink)
Different fires create different types of smoke damage. SERVPRO of Morris/Ottawa professionals are trained to identify which type of smoke has affected your property so we can properly restore your home or business back to preloss condition.
There is wet smoke and dry smoke. Here are the different types of smoke that we look to identify when we are called to help with a fire or smoke damage.
Wet Smoke- (Plastic and Rubber) Low heat, smoldering fire, has a pungent odor and is sticky.
Dry Smoke- (Paper and Wood) Fast burning, hot temperatures, heat and smoke rise.
Protein Fire Residue- (Evaporation of materials) Almost invisible, will stain and discolor paint, extremely pungent ‘eye burning’ smell.
Fuel Oil Soot- (Furnace puff back) Malfunction causes smoke to blow through duct vents and cover the home with smoke odor and soot
Other Types- Fire Extinguisher
