Melting Snow

It is becoming that time of year again where snow will start to fall. Melting snow can cause water damage issues to your home or business. Below are a few tips to help avoid water damage due to melting snow. 

1. Check your property for obstructions that might prevent melting snow to properly drain. 

2. Clear snow and ice from the roof gutters so water can properly drain. 

3. Make sure downspouts and sump pumps drain away from your home. 

4. Shovel snow away from the downspouts, basement windows, wells and stairwells. 

5. Brush heavy accumulated snow and ice dams off the roof. 

6. Clear your street storm sewer of snow and debris. 

7. Check outside pipes for leaks or damage.
