Melting snow can cause damage to your homes foundation as well as your personal property. To help reduce the risk of water damage due to melting snow keep the following tips in mind:
1. Check your property for obstructions that might prevent melting snow to properly drain.
2. Clear snow and ice from the roof gutters so water can properly drain.
3. Make sure downspouts and sump pumps drain away from your home.
4. Shovel snow away from the downspouts, basement windows, wells and stairwells.
5. Brush heavy accumulated snow and ice dams off the roof.
6. Clear your street storm sewer of snow and debris.
7. Check outside pipes for leaks or damage.
